The Night Stalker 🌙🔪
In the spring and summer of 1985 Los Angeles was gripped by panic and terror as Richard Ramirez stalked through the nights. For 2 years no one felt safe even in their own homes as Ramirez went on a killing spree, burglarizing, raping, and torturing the unwary citizens of LA. Neither the young or old were spared against his brutality. Driven by a festering anger that first manifested itself in devil worship, Ramirez used a variety of items such as a machete, a tire-iron, hammers, and knives to torture and then kill his victims. ➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖
However, some of his victims survived the attacks and provided police with the detailed descriptions that would ultimately lead to his capture. Ramirez would be caught by the same Angelinos he terrorized. On August 30, 1985 returning from a trip to Tuscan, Arizona, Ramirez was spotted by two elderly Mexican ladies and tried to run away. He was chased and held down by a group of residents until police arrived, thus ended a terrifying chapter in LA history. ➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖
Ramirez was tried, convicted, and given 13 death sentences. He spent 28 years in jail awaiting his execution before dying of complications from B-cell lymphoma.
